Home Renovations, Parte Deux

So I've been a busy little bee this week painting in the house. Last night, I painted my bedroom. First of all, I just want to say that painting is harder than it looks, even with a roller. Let me rephrase that... the painting isn't really so hard, but it certainly gives you a good workout. I could totally feel muscles in my arms and shoulders I clearly hadn't been using lately. And I got blisters on my hands. And I woke up in the middle of the night with a charley horse in my right calf. Ok, so that's probably more because of my running than the painting, but still... I felt like my body was yelling at me for the combination of working all day, going for a run, and then painting all evening.

The good news is that I have no paint color remorse. I absolutely love how my room is going to look. I can't wait to get all my stuff in there and see it come together. The semi-bad news is it has to have another coat, but I figured it would. Someone asked me recently what color it is and I realized telling that it's called Aqua Glow doesn't really answer that question. Paint colors are clearly just like fingernail paint colors... they have all these crazy names that never give any indication what the actual color will be. Like right now, I have Terracotta on my little toes - it's coral. So from the name Aqua Glow, you may be picturing the green of Aquafresh toothpaste, possibly that will even glow in the dark. Nope. It's this really pretty blue/green that's a bit more blue. It's going to look fantastic with all my new black and white bedroom stuff. (Though something glow in the dark could have been kind of neat.. for a few days.)

Tonight I painted the first coat on my bathroom... this paint color is called White Raisin. Is it white? Nope. Is it brown like a raisin? Nope. Is it green like a grape is before it becomes a raisin? Or maybe like a purple grape? Nope and nope... it's yellow, to go with my rubber ducks. Yep.

I'm taking a little time off from the painting tomorrow, but the next thing to tackle is the living room and hall. I'm curious to see what names those paint colors will have when we pick them up...

Side Note: I recently downloaded "The Story" by Brandi Carlile and am already playing it numerous times on my ipod... absolutely beautiful song.
