Tuesday was just a normal day at first. I got up, got dressed and went to work.
2pm rolls around. A friend calls.
"I found tickets to the DMB concert in Atlanta tonight. Dead center, like row 20. I just need to find someone to go with me. Interested?"
Folks, the answer to that question is ALWAYS yes. (And I know I'm probably making some of my fellow DMB fans jealous here. Sorry!)
I hauled my butt home, changed, threw some makeup into a bag and met up with Adam to hop in his car to book it to Atlanta. It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive, but we'd be losing an hour due to the time difference.
We were excited. We stopped at a Taco Bell and scarfed down dinner and were back on the road within 15 minutes. We found the ampitheater. We parked. We picked up tickets at will call. And then we found that we were in the most amazing seats that I have ever had at any concert ever.
For this to be my 6th DMB concert, it was shaping up pretty well. Deciding on a whim to go only a few hours before the show started certainly added a certain level of excitement.
They opened this show completely different. There was a big curtain up, and we could tell when the lights went out that the guys were behind it. They did a little tuning and played a few notes. The anticipation was awesome. Finally, they started "Pantala Naga Pampa" and as Dave started to sing the lights came up and the curtain flew out of the way. It. was. amazing.
We were so close. I got tons of awesome pictures and videos (I might try to get some up eventually on here, but if you're my Facebook friend you can definitely see them on there). We danced. We sang along. We enjoyed the new songs again. We heard some songs they didn't do in Nashville. I remained blown away that we had such awesome seats. We laughed when Dave cut up with the audience (he was in a good mood). We enjoyed the jams.
We left pumped up and full of adrenaline. We still stopped on the way home to pick up some candy and energy drinks. Fortunately, we gained an hour going home. I managed to climb into bed at 2:30am, but even when my alarm went off at 7 I didn't mind... it had been SO WORTH it.
Worth spending 7 hours of the day in a car. Worth losing sleep. Worth the 2:30am bed time for the second work night in a row.
