It went pretty well. I don't think that I lost too much of my fitness, and my legs felt really fresh. I think I should be able to bounce back quickly.
There was one small hiccup. I had planned to do an easy 4 miles just to get my groove back and to help me figure out what kind of long run I can pick back up with this weekend. I think that under other circumstances I could have finished it with no issues, but I cut it short when I hit 5K.
When you go on a cruise, it takes a couple of days to get your sea legs. When you get home from a cruise, it takes a couple of days to get your land legs back. I've still had moments where I feel like I'm on the boat, and I definitely get a little dizzy if I move my head too fast. About 2 miles in I was feeling so dizzy that I reached the point where I was just trying to hang on the best I could, so in the end I think I made the right decision to stop early. I'm sure in a few days I'll be good to go to run without feeling like I might fall sideways off the treadmill.
Yes, I said treadmill. It's 28 degrees, cloudy and windy here. I wasn't about to go run outside in it right now. I will when I start getting into longer runs and am sure that I can handle it all.
Since I spent the first week of the new year in other countries, I haven't had time yet to give much thought to my 2010 training/running/racing goals. I intend to share a post about that sometime soon, but in the meantime I'll be sharing some posts and pictures about my vacation.

Totally! I've only been on a couple cruises but I definitely had to adjust back to land =).
I'm excited to hear about 2010...any plans to come back out my way?
Can't wait to hear about your cruise. I have never been on one. Even more so, i can't wait to hear about your running plans for 2010. Should be a great year!
Hey, you made it out to run! That's amazing! Welcome back girl :D
That's great that you are getting back into it, and I'm sure you'll get back to it quickly. Can't wait to hear about your 2010.
