Don't get me wrong - I am totally excited to be running it as a pacer. I think it's going to be a blast to encourage other people and help them to finish in their goal time.
I think it's just that I've run this race a handful of times, so it's kind of old news. Granted, that's why I'm running as a pacer. I wanted something that would make it new again.
I think the excitement will hit on Friday when I go to the race expo and attend the Meet the Pacer clinic. And then Saturday morning when I line up on West End with over 30,000 runners. If there's one thing I know for sure, it's that there is a pretty exciting atmosphere to the Nashville race. I always tell people to run it at least once for good reason. It's a really great experience!
I feel confident about leading a pace team. I'm looking forward to having a fun day, even if it pours down rain... something that they're saying might happen. (One never knows with the weather in April. It could be rainy. It could be cold. It could be blazing hot. It's actually part of the reason why I'll likely never run the full marathon again - it's too unpredictable to train for all that time and then not have a clue what the weather will do. It's kind of surprising to me they keep doing the race this time of year when it IS so unpredictable.)
Is anyone else running the Nashville race? I'd love to meet you if possible!
