Let's start at the beginning.
Friday night, I organized a little happy hour among my friends. We ended up having like 10-12 of us crammed in a corner of the Flying Saucer at one point. I know I see my friends all the time, but it always makes me feel good when I organize a successful gathering.
I managed to have three beers and two soft pretzels (they are SO good), and I called it carb loading. The high for Saturday was to be 100 degrees, I had 20 miles to run, and I figured a pre-run meal of beer and soft pretzels wasn't going to make it any worse than it already would be.
We set out around 6am on Saturday when it was already 75 degrees and humid. Honestly, the first 15 miles weren't so bad and we were running a steady 10:30ish pace (a little slower up some of the big hills of which cannot be avoided in these parts).
But then we took a wrong turn... this was a bit defeating as it meant running up 2 more hills we would have avoided had we not made a wrong turn.
By the time I got to the last water stop, I was hot and cranky. I pretty much walked the last mile to mile and a half back and chatted with a few others who had decided that walking was the way to go. At the end of the day, I was still on my feet and moving.
It ended up being around 19 miles. I had been on my feet for 4 hours and decided that was enough.
I napped. I tried to go out to the pool for a bit, but it was just too hot for that.
And then a friend and I wanted to go out in midtown, but several text messages later we decided neither of us were really awake enough for that. So we decided on ice cream instead.
And that's when we saw Matt Wertz at Sweet Cece's. Ok, so maybe he's not as famous as Lady A, Nicole Kidman or Taylor Swift, but it was still cool to add someone to the list. My friend told me I should hit on him (he is pretty cute), but it appeared his dad was with him.. and I don't know, flirting with someone in front of their dad is a little too much for me.
The rest of my holiday weekend? It's been pouring rain and about 70 degrees. I don't mind it cooling off, but it would have been nice to get some more pool time this weekend. Instead, I went to church and then to see the Andy Warhol exhibit at the Frist before it closes next week.
And I'm considering a Netflix account.
Ugh. I was ready for some rain, but I wish it had waited until work starts back tomorrow.
