This past Saturday, I tried something new: Warrior Dash!
If you don't know about Warrior Dash, the jist is that it's a 5K where you have about 10 obstacles to get past... the last being a huge pool of mud.
Several friends and I decided this would be a blast!
We decided that a little face paint would be in order.
When we got to the race, we found The Mystery Machine. SO fun!
Here's our before picture.
The race was a total blast! We hardly ran because the obstacles were tough enough that we needed the space between them to recover. We climbed a lot of walls.. some by rope, some by cargo net... and there were a fair number of ways to get down the other side as well.
It was definitely a challenge since I don't have a ton of upper body strength. I'm also a little nervous with heights so maneuvering myself over the wall was interesting each time.
Swimming through the pool of mud at the end? More fun than I would have expected.
Here's our after picture.
We went to get hosed off and enjoyed our free beer and some food. Then, we had to take a photo in our awesome Viking helmets!
It ended up being such a fun and different kind of race, and it was so fun to share it with friends. We were cracking up at ourselves so much during the race, and we didn't even care about our finish time.
I'm definitely in a season where I'm kind of only interested in having fun with running. I probably have not been training so well lately, but I've been having a blast with the things I've been doing!
