Insanity and Running

So... last week I only did Insanity twice.  BUT, I still consider that a success.  I'm glad I've been able to keep moving along the schedule, and soon I'll be starting month two.

Why did I only do it twice?  Well, because I actually ran close to 30 miles last week... which is the most I've gotten up to in quite a while.  I know it's probably still not enough considering I've got a 50K in less than 2 months, but I'm slowly but surely getting there and getting more confident about it.

The main thing is that I can tell already I feel stronger running, and I have to think it has something to do with the Insanity workouts I've been doing... even if I haven't been doing them every day.

The thing is - I could do them every day and run 30-40 miles a week.  But between that, work, eating and sleeping... I'd have no time for everything else.

And that doesn't sound fun. 

So I'm pleased.  I'm feeling strong.  I'm going to keep doing Insanity on days I don't run, and I'm going to keep building my mileage so I can feel better about my endurance, too.

All that to say... I'm getting more fit.  And you can't complain about that.

I think you can definitely sub Insanity for regular workouts, and just make sure to get your long runs in on the weekend. Maybe one more short run during the week if you're nervous about cutting back too much? But Insanity will definitely get your cardio system in gear, so as long as you cover the long runs for muscles, you'll be fine!
