Fall Creek Falls - February 2016

Last February, Adam and I were feeling the strain of grad school. We didn't feel like we'd had any time to get away since our Disney trip in October, and we really weren't finding much quality time together.

So he booked us a cabin in the Fall Creek Falls area, and we took off on Friday afternoon. We packed some groceries, and we enjoyed making dinner and watching a movie on tv that evening.

Saturday morning we were up early to spend the day exploring the park and doing a ton of hiking.

First, we hit the cable trail. I remember doing this with friends on a church youth group retreat back in high school, so it brought back some fun memories and was neat being back here years later with my husband.

From there we headed over to the main trail to hike to the falls. We really enjoyed taking our time and stopping for pictures along the way. Sometimes we'd also sit down for a bit and just enjoy how pretty the scenery was until we got cold and needed to mosey on.

Even though it was a bit chilly, it was actually a nice day for hiking in the woods. It wasn't really crowded on the trails (yay, winter), so it was really peaceful. We had packed sandwiches and found a nice spot with a view to sit down and eat before we finished making our way to the mail falls.

We decided to see how far down to the bottom of the falls we could make it. We knew we probably wouldn't be able to get all the way up under them like you can in the summer. We were able to get pretty far before everything started to get too wet and icy.

We made our way back up and hiked all the way back around to our car to head back to the cabin. We spent the evening relaxing and watching tv. It was so nice to get away from our real life and be out in the middle of nowhere for a bit.

The next day as Super Bowl Sunday, so we were up in the morning to head back and get ready for having some friends over to watch the game. We were thrilled to see Peyton Manning earn another ring, and it was a great end to a great weekend!
