Race Report: Camp Horizon 5K

This Saturday, Adam and I ran our March 5K at the Camp Horizon 5K in Mt. Juliet.

We had a little bit of an untraditional pre-race night... we went to the Nashville Predators wine festival!

We love our Preds, and the wine festival is always a fun event. We greatly enjoyed our photo op with Gnash!

We spent the evening sampling all sorts of delicious local foods along with wine, bourbon, and tequila. There was one tequila in particular that we really enjoyed, so we moseyed back to their table at the end of the evening to chat with them and ask where we could buy some. This led to us walking out with one brand new bottle and one almost brand new bottle from their tastings. We are not ones to turn down something free!

We got home around 11 and went to bed. Fortunately, the Camp Horizon 5K had a 9am start time. We got up in time to get dressed and head over there.

It was a bit colder than it's been lately, but it wasn't terrible. We went knowing we may have to walk a bit since we'd had a bit of fun the night before.

I mean, whose idea was it to run a 5K the night after a wine festival?

The truth is, we didn't realize they were on back-to-back days when we signed up for both.

As we started the race (walking), we saw some friends from my Ragnar Relay days. We chatted with them for a bit, but after about a half mile we started jogging. We ended up running almost the entire time after that! Granted, it was a slow run, but we felt pretty good. Who knew?!

We finished in a little over 35 minutes. Sure, it's nothing to brag about, but we were proud to be out there doing it. All in all, we had fun! That's what matters, right?!

The race was pretty small, and they did that annoying thing where the age brackets were every 10 years instead of 5 years like every other normal race. Nonetheless. we enjoyed ourselves and were happy to know our entries supported sending kids with cancer to camp!
